Polyglutamine diseases, such as Huntington's disease, lead to cell death in the brain. Magdalena Dąbrowska, scholarship holder in the 21st edition of the L'Oréal For Women & Science Scholarship Programme, investigates the methods for removing unwanted mutations in the genome that lead to these rare, incurable diseases.
Winners of 23rd Polish Product of the Future competition were announced this week. The competition is organized by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP) and the National Centre for Research and Development. The prizes went to projects in the fields including medicine, biotechnology and electronics.
The 2021 Giuseppe and Vanna Cocconi Prize for outstanding contribution to Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology has been awarded to the Borexino Collaboration, which includes researchers from the Institute of Physics at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.
