Warsaw students win Google marketing competition

The team of students from Warsaw universities won the international competition Google Online Marketing Challenge 2014. In their winning project, Polish students led marketing campaign for the football club Legia Warszawa.

The team of students from three universities in Warsaw: Warsaw School of Economics, Warsaw University of Life Sciences and Warsaw University of Technology - won the title of Global Winner in Google Online Marketing Challenge 2014, reported Warsaw School of Economics spokesman Marcin Poznań in the release sent to PAP.

Teams participating in the competition had a budget of $ 250 for a three-week web advertising campaign. Each team could choose an organization or company they would promote online. The competition jury evaluated the effectiveness of teams in the conducted activities.

The Warsaw team decided to support the promotion of football club Legia Warszawa. The main objective was to increase the sales of tickets, club clothing and gadgets among fans. Advertisements designed by students were displayed 148 thousand times, clicked 2.3 thousand times, and the recipient of advertising carried out more than 400 actions on the football club website, including nearly 200 ticket purchases.

The captain of the winning team was Mateusz Rydlewski from Warsaw University of Technology. The team members were Przemek Dmochowski and Agnieszka Żdanuk (Warsaw School of Economics), Marek Janisiewicz and Paweł Zawadzki (Warsaw University of Life Sciences). Team supervisor was Dr. Tymoteusz Doligalski from Warsaw School of Economics.

The competition prizes - for the team and its supervisor - include weekly trip to San Francisco, where the winners will visit Google headquarters and meet with internet marketing specialists.
