ERC awards 281 Advanced Grants, 4 winners from Poland

The European Research Council (ERC) announced the results of the Advanced Grants competition. 281 outstanding scientists from Europe will receive a total of EUR 721 million to carry out ambitious research projects under the Horizon Europe programme. The grants will also be awarded to four winners from Poland.

    The Twardowsky 2 rocket, over 4 m long, is the largest such build in the history of the Warsaw University of Technology Student Astronautical Club. Students are currently finishing the production of the last components and testing and integrating all parts of the rocket. Final tests are planned for the summer.

    Jagiellonian University best among Polish universities according to CWUR ranking

    The Jagiellonian University is 395th in The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR). The other Polish universities in the ranking are the University of Warsaw (427th) and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków (627th). Americans dominate the ranking, with Harvard University at the forefront.

    European patent for innovative implantable biomaterials

    Scientists have patented innovative implantable biomaterials - composites for the treatment of bone defects and for use in regenerative medicine. The patent was granted by the European Patent Office (EPO) for 'Multifunctional composite implantable materials for filling bone defects and regenerating bone tissue', the University of Gdańsk reports.

    Scientists from Wrocław co-develop Moon navigation system

    Moonlight is the new navigation system being developed by the European Space Agency (ESA). It will enable precise positioning on the surface of the Moon and in its vicinity. Scientists from the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences participate in the project.

    HepaSwitch: Student idea to fight liver cancer

    Students from Warsaw universities are working on a therapy for patients with liver cancer. They want to design an mRNA molecule that will induce the production of a protein that kills hepatocellular carcinoma cells. They will present the HepaSwitch technology in October at the international iGEM competition.

    AGH UST students win robotic competition in Australia

    AGH Space Systems team from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków won the international robotics competition Australian Rover Challenge 2025 (ARCh), the university reports. Students from all over the world took part in a simulated lunar mission, using rovers that they had designed and built themselves.
