The Wrocław Medical University has been named the best university in Poland according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) ranking. Over 2,000 universities from around the world were ranked based on several indicators, such as research quality and cooperation with industry.
The university was in the 501st to 600th place group among 2,100 universities from around the world. This is the best result in Poland.
'I am very happy, especially that the Times Higher Education World University Rankings distinguishes us in two areas: teaching and research quality. Their improvement was our priority in the past term', says the Rector of Wrocław Medical University, Professor Piotr Ponikowski.
THE WUR ranking is one of the most prestigious international rankings of universities and has been published since 2010.
'The ranking evaluates universities based on 18 indicators, taking into account the quality of research, the academic environment, cooperation with industry and the international perspective. This year, 157 million citations and 18 million scientific publications were analysed, as well as the results of 93,000 surveys assessing academic reputation', says a university press release.
This is not the first ranking in which the university has achieved good results. It has been listed for four years as the best Polish medical university on the Shanghai List. (PAP)
