Students from Radom and foreign colleagues develop solutions for urban transport

Students from Radom and several other European universities will develop the most beneficial transportation solutions for their cities. The program for green and safe local transport is coordinated by the Radom university.

Participants of the project are students of the University of Technology and Humanities in Radom are their peers from universities in Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Slovakia and Latvia.

The University of Technology and Humanities in Radom spokeswoman Aneta Mirosz told PAP that students and lecturers will try to develop the urban transport models most beneficial for their cities. The idea is to improve the local transport, reduce energy consumption and the environmental impact.

Students will have the help of lectures, seminars, laboratory workshops and visits to automotive industry companies.

Project participants will also explote various solutions for clean urban transport. One of Radom manufacturers will present an electric vehicle. " The students\' task will be to propose changes in the vehicle design to make it more user-friendly" - explained Aneta Mirosz. The spokeswoman added that students’ suggestions would be forwarded to the manufacturer, who might use them for subsequent designs of this type.

Students will also learn planning of public transport and the transport of goods, as well as means of transport design. The course will also cover organization of urban transport, monitoring, traffic management, construction of means of transport, energy consumption and saving.

The project is coordinated by the Kazimierz Pulaski University of Technology and Humanities in Radom , and organized by two faculties of the university: Faculty of Transport and Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The program will continue until March 28. A total of 60 students from abroad and 25 from the university in Radom participated in its two previous editions. The project is co-financed from EU funds.
