We know the new Thesaurus Poloniae scholarship winners

Six scientists from Ukraine, Armenia, Hungary and Croatia are the scholarship recipients in the latest, 9th edition of Thesaurus Poloniae. Scholarship are awarded to foreign researchers specialising in the culture, history and multicultural heritage of the Republic of Poland and Central Europe.

The International Cultural Centre in Kraków announced in the release sent to PAP that the Evaluation Committee examined 27 applications, 16 for the Senior Programme and 11 for the Junior Programme. The Committee awarded two Senior-type scholarships and four scholarships in the Junior Programme.

In the first category of scholarship recipients are: Prof. Alexandr Osipian (Ukraine) and Dr. Aron Petneki (Hungary). In the Junior category, the winners are: Sona Khechikyan (Armenia), Anastasiia Obarchuk (Ukraine), Zvonimir Milanović (Croatia) and Dr. Natalia Rudyka (Ukraine).

Foreign scholars will spend three months in Kraków, from September to December 2013.

Thesaurus Poloniae a three-month fellowship programme of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, implemented by the International Cultural Centre in Kraków since the autumn of 2009. The programme is addressed to foreign researchers, who conduct their research on culture, history and multicultural heritage of the Republic of Poland as well as on Central Europe. Both the researchers who deal with management and protection of cultural heritage, and theorists dealing with history, sociology, ethnography, anthropology etc. are invited to participate in the programme.

Thesaurus Poloniae Fellowship is run in two categories: Senior Programme for university professors and senior lecturers/PhD holders, and Junior Programme for PhD candidates.

8 previous editions of the programme were attended by 37 scientists from 22 countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Spain, Iran, Japan, Canada, Moldova, Germany, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Ukraine, U.S., Hungary, UK, Italy).

Participants receive a monthly fellowship (PLN 3500, ca EUR 770 for the participants in the Senior Programme and PLN 2500, ca EUR550 for the participants in the Junior Programme), and a one-off grant of PLN 1500 (ca 330 EUR) awarded together with the first fellowship amount, for the purchase of publications and related expenses. The participants in the programme have at their disposal a single, fully furnished and equipped apartment in the city centre.
