Liquid for washing and storage of organs collected for transplant has been developed by researchers associated with the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice. They emphasised that the Polish solution is in no way inferior to imported products, and it is about half the price.

Biolasol liquid is a clear, colourless to slightly yellow solution intended for washing and storage of heart, liver, pancreas and kidneys.

"After collection, the liquid is used to wash and cool the organ. The composition slows down the negative processes occurring in the organ, stabilizes it" - explained in an interview with PAP the liquid creator, Prof. Florian Ryszka from the manufacturing company Biochefa.

The product has already been successfully used by Prof. Lech Cierpka, national consultant in the field of clinical transplantation and head of the Department of General, Vascular and Transplant Surgery at the A. Mielęcki Independent Public Clinical Hospital of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice.

"It is a very good product, we do not see any difference in terms of rinse and preservation efficiency compared with much more expensive imported preparations. If the solution is promoted, it will be a Polish success" - said Prof. Cierpka.
