Medical University of Silesia in Katowice is the first institution of higher education in Poland to become an International Training Centre of the American Heart Association - announced on Tuesday the university spokeswoman, Agata Kalafarska.
On December 17 in Katowice, representatives of the American Heart Association will officially presented the authorities of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice with a certificate confirming the award of the title "International Training Center".
Agata Kalafarska noted that this it opens the opportunity for students of all faculties to participate in basic life support, advanced cardiac life support pediatric advanced life support training.
Upon completion of training and passing an examination, each participant receives an international certification recognized by hospitals around the world. In addition, under the agreement teaching staff selected from among the university employees will be trained, which gives the opportunity to harmonize the curricula in the field of resuscitation in all courses.
Founded in 1948, Medical University of Silesia educates to more than 9.6 thousand students in 15 courses in Polish, and 9 in English. Five faculties teach future medical doctors, dentists, pharmacists, medical analysts, biotechnologists, as well as specialists in public health, emergency medicine, dietetics, nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, cosmetology.
The American Heart Association, founded in 1924 in the US, is an organization dedicated to the prevention of heart disease and stroke. It funds innovative research and conducts educational activities. (PAP)
