CUE scholar among the five winners of an international scholarship program

Dr. Konrad Grabiński from Cracow University of Economics is the Polish scientist among five winners of the international "Deloitte IAAER Scholarship Program" for scientist dealing with accounting. The value of the three-year scholarship is 10 thousand dollars per year.

The program is organized by Deloitte and the International Association for Accounting Education and Research. "The goal of the program is to raise the standards among future accountants, in the long term to improve the quality of accounting, auditing and financial reporting" - said CUE spokesman Piotr Bednarski.

"I hope that the development of international cooperation through Deloitte and IAAER program will help to bridge the gap between academic research and professional practice. It will also allow to increase cooperation between Polish and international accounting circles, which in turn can have a significant impact on the development of financial reporting regulations" - said the Polish winner Dr. Konrad Grabiński from the Department of Financial Accounting, Cracow University of Economics.

Other scholarship winners are: Nadia Albu from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Fernando Dal-Ri Murcia from the University of São Paulo, Brazil; Supriyadi from Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia and Elmar Retief Venter from the University of Pretoria.

"This program (..) will benefit future accounting professionals that go on to become auditors, preparers of financial statements, budget holders, or financial controllers. In the long term it will help raise the quality of accounting, auditing, and financial reporting in markets around the world" – said Charles P. Heeter, Managing Director, Deloitte Public Policy Group.

Program participants will explore the latest trends in accounting and have access to the best practices of companies around the world.

One of the key elements of the scholarship program is the involvement of mentors, well-known and highly accomplished accounting experts. They include: Katherine Schipper - Duke University, Mary Barth - Standford University, Chika Saka - Kwansei Gakuin University, Sidney Gray - University of Sydney and Ann Tarca - University of Western Australia.

The next round of the program is planned for 2016. Applications will be reviewed in 2015.
