Medals for Polish inventors in Zagreb

Polish scientists brought 13 gold, 9 silver and 4 bronze medals from the 12th International Exhibition of Inventions ARCA in Zagreb (Croatia). At the exhibition, they presented 33 inventions and innovative technologies developed at Polish universities, research institutes and enterprises.

The organiser of one of the largest exhibitions of inventions in Europe is the Croatian Technical Culture Association, which in this year\'s edition gathered 300 inventions from 15 countries.

With 33 Polish solutions presented at the exhibition, the international jury awarded our inventors and scientists 13 gold, 9 silver and 4 bronze medals. Almost half were the inventions of related research institutes that also won most medals. The jury awarded them 7 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze medal.

Among the medalists was the Institute for Sustainable Technologies – National Research Institute in Radom, Automotive Industry Institute, New Chemical Syntheses Institute, KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology and the Institute of Environmental Protection – National Research Institute. Medals were also awarded to Universities of Technology in Warsaw, Gdańsk, Silesia, Wrocław, Łódź, University of Technology and Humanities in Radom, West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, University of Warsaw, Jagiellonian University.

Much interest in the Polish stand enjoyed the gold-winning invention of 18 years old Joanna Jurek with from Boleslaw the Brave High School in Piotrków Trybunalski, "Multi-component nano-systems for the delivery of anticancer drugs". It was created in collaboration with a team from the University of Warsaw, whose members were: Ewelina Zabost, Wioletta Chmielowiec, Tomasz Kowalczyk, Paweł Nakielski and Piotr Przanowski.

The patrons of the Polish stand at the exhibition were: Ministry of Economy, Marshal of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship, the Main Council of Research Institutes, Foundation "Women of Science - Polish Women Scientists Network". Exposition partner was the Department of Trade and Investment Promotion of the Polish Embassy in Zagreb. Participation of scientific institutions in the ARCA exhibition was subsidised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
