University of Warsaw wins newspaper's ranking of law faculties

The University of Warsaw has topped Rzeczpospolita newspaper’s ranking of state university law faculties, with the capital’s Kozminski University taking first place among private universities.

The 10th edition of the ranking which assesses the faculties’ scientific potential, quality of education and international cooperation with foreign countries, saw Jagiellonian University in Kraków being ranked second best state university followed by the University of Wrocław in third place. 

According to the ranking, after Kozminski University, the law faculties of private universities saw Warsaw’s Lazarski in second place and the SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Warsaw taking third.

The ranking was based on data from the National Information Processing Institute - National Research Institute which also showed that there are currently over 35,400 law students in Poland, over 19 percent of them at private universities. 

On average, there are 2.9 candidates per place at state universities, while in private universities this is 1.7 candidates per place. (PAP)
