Deputy Minister of the Environment: Poland does not intend to lower protection status of wolves

I confirm that Poland does not intend to lower the protection status of wolves, Mikołaj Dorożała, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Climate and Environment, says in referrence to the change of classification of this species from 'strictly protected' to 'protected', voted on December 3 in the Council of Europe.

  • The reaction involves naturally occurring hydrosulfide (HS-) and an organic compound containing aromatic rings, capable of absorbing UV radiation. Under the influence of UV radiation energy, an ultrafast electron transfer from hydrosulfide to the organic compound occurs, leading to further selective chemical transformations. Polish scientists describe new type of chemical reaction in formation of DNA building blocks

Quantum chemists from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology have described the principles of a completely new class of chemical reactions. It was discovered during research on the formation of DNA building blocks from compounds present in the environment. In these reactions, chemical processes activated by UV radiation and the so-called chemistry of weak chalcogen interactions meet for the first time.

Acidic relations between pine plantations and peatlands

The condition of forests and peatlands within them is strongly interconnected. Studies have shown that pine plantations operated in the Tuchola Forest since the 18th century have led to the weakening and acidification of the local peatland. This, in turn, weakens the resistance of the pines to climate change.

Seesaw of multitasking. How to maintain healthy balance? Jagiellonian University research

Dividing attention between tasks too often results in a decrease in concentration, shallows emotional reactions, and induces a constant search for stimuli. On the other hand, dividing attention too infrequently distorts the way we perceive reality. Ewa Szumowska, PhD, from the Jagiellonian University investigates the issues of finding a healthy balance.
