Academics from AGH University of Science and Technology, Warsaw University of Technology and Wrocław University of Science and Technology are the most published AI researchers in Poland.

According to the National Information Processing Institute, the scientists published 14,000 new papers on Artificial Intelligence between 2010-2021.

In the period of 11 years, 949,000 new publications on artificial intelligence (AI) were written around the world. The largest number of papers were published by scientists from China (257,000), the US (140,000) and India (105,000). Polish contribution at the level of 14,000 publications translates into 1.5 percent share.

However, the high publication rate does not translate into the level of use of the results by other scientists. In this area, the highest rate belongs to papers written by scientists from Hong Kong and Switzerland. Only 196,000 publications were created in international cooperation.

Among European Union countries, the largest number of publications on AI in science and technical sciences were published by scientists from Germany (37,000), France (28,600), Italy (28,000) and Spain (26,600). Poland took fifth place.

However, papers by Polish authors had a low citation rate. They were cited 34 percent less often than the world average. The degree of international cooperation was also low. Only 27 percent of publications were written by Polish researchers in collaboration with foreigners. The US, Canada and the UK are the countries with which Polish scientists most often cooperate in the field of AI.
