Museum of the Jagiellonian University - Collegium Maius appreciated by The Wall Street Journal

Museum of the Jagiellonian University - Collegium Maius and its collection of astronomical instruments, have been noticed by The Wall Street Journal. One of the major New York newspapers published an article that recommends the places worth visiting in Kraków.

University has a collection of more than two thousand objects that includes exhibits from most scientific disciplines: astronomy, geodesy, navigation, physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, weights and measures.

The core of the collection are the instruments which are former equipment of university facilities, including the first Department of Physics founded in 1778, Observatory founded in 1792, the first Department of Chemistry founded in 1782. The most valuable objects include astronomical instruments dating from the eleventh to the nineteenth century, the globes (16th-19th century), chemical vessels from the late eighteenth century and cryogenic equipment from the second half of the nineteenth century.

Author of the article George Semler writes that former Polish capital owes its fame to famous people and medieval monuments. He emphasizes that it is thanks to them that Kraków is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.

Places described in the article, apart from the Museum of the Jagiellonian University - Collegium Maius, include Wawel Castle, the largest medieval square in Europe, Kościuszko Mound, Oskar Schindler\'s Factory.
